Free Printable Handwriting Paper for Kids and Adults

Handwriting paper isn’t one product. Kids learning English need four lines. Chinese practice needs character boxes. Everyone else is usually fine with wide or college ruling.

Four-line (three-space) paper

The top line caps b, d, h. The middle band is where a, c, e, n sit. The bottom line catches g, j, y. Dashed midlines make that obvious. Start around 3 mm between lines for a typical workbook look; go larger for first grade. Generate it here: English handwriting paper.

Chinese grids

Tian zi ge (cross) steadies the center of the character. Mi zi ge adds diagonals for slanted strokes. Blank boxes match many exam sheets. 20–25 mm for beginners, 15 mm once the hand is smaller. Chinese writing paper switches styles without buying three pads.

Just lines

For journals, meeting notes, or older students, skip the extra guides and print lined paper. 8 mm is a comfortable adult default; 10–12 mm if the writer is still large.

Print A4 or Letter at Actual size. If the dashes vanish, turn on background graphics or darken the line color a notch.
